Run Your Home from Anywhere

Nexia Home Intelligence is a new way to run your home, from wherever life takes you. Everyone is busy, on the go, and being pulled in a hundred different directions, which makes staying on top of what’s happening at home especially hard. But Nexia brings together home automation technology with a simple way to manage it from a distance, enabling you to do things like unlock the front door, adjust heating and cooling, and even manage home security and energy use–right from your Internet-connected smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Created by Schlage and Trane, Nexia Home Intelligence communicates wirelessly via Z-Wave wireless technology–out of the way and invisible–so there’s nothing to figure out. An open system, Nexia Home Intelligence allows you to affordably manage your home your way now, with just the Z-Wave components you want. Expand on it later, anytime you want–and as often as you want–by adding more Z-Wave components as your needs grow. Gradually build your system with cameras, locks, lighting and small appliance controls, thermostats, and sensors over time.

Quality, Convenience, and Security

The BE369NX keypad deadbolt is ANSI Grade 2 Certified for enhanced security, and it features a 1-inch throw bolt to prevent kick-ins, a vandal-resistant free spinning deadbolt turn, and a patented commercial-grade clutching motor that’s been tested to one million cycles. Its rekeyable cylinders match existing locks for single key convenience.

In addition to the non-motorized deadbolt (which helps increase battery life), the BE369NX features a non-wearing keypad that is lighted for nighttime use and epoxy-coated buttons that prevent fading and wear. It holds up to 19 user unique codes (with over 10,000 four-digit user code combinations), and you can easily program a code right at the keypad or online via your Nexia Home Intelligence personal portal (which utilizes 128 bit AES encryption for wireless security).

It’s powered by one 9-volt and three AAA batteries for up to a three-year battery life. Easy to install, you’ll be able to replace your existing lock with a screwdriver in less than 30 minutes–no wiring required–and it fits all standard door preparations (1-3/8- to 1-3/4-inch thickness). The universal latch fits a 2-3/8 inch or 2-3/4 inch backset, has a 1-1/8 inch x 2-3/4 inch round corner strike reinforcer, and its latch faceplate features a 1 x 2-1/4 inch round corner and drive-in option. The exterior measures 3.25 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches, while the interior measures 3.25 x 7.5 x 2.5 inches. This keypad deadbolt comes with two keys, and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty on finish and mechanics and a 1-year warranty on electronics.

Schlage Nexia Home Intelligence Deadbolt This product is easy and quick to install on any standard door with an existing deadbolt. Nicely done. There are a few quirks in getting it registered with the Nexia system, but after a few repeated attempts I was able to be successful without any calls to “support”.My one disappointment (compared with the advertising) is that you can’t actually “lock” or “unlock” the deadbolt version via the Nexia internet connection. You can “monitor” if it’s locked or unlocked, and you can “activate” it such that a person standing at the door would be able to rotate the knob below the keypad to gain entrance if they did it within the 15- 30 second activation period. But you cannot lock the door without a person being there to physically turn the deadbolt knob, if you forgot to lock it before you left. You could confirm that you left it unlocked, but can’t do anything about it remotely unless you send someone there. In thinking about it after the purchase, the reason for this is…

Factory defects I frequently pay a few dollars more for any item I buy if I can buy it from Amazon for the quality assurance. This is the first time I have had such problems with a purchase. The first one I received was defective and didn’t work. The replacement worked, but luckily I felt heat coming from the batteries before I installed it. I checked it a minute later and it was even hotter. I pulled the batteries and the label was melting off. (Yes, I installed with correct polarity). Amazon has apparently received a bad batch of these and I called the second time to tell them instead of just doing an exchange. Review my photos and you can see the packaging issues that show these are not new.Update: Third item (second replacement) arrived. Packaging still had sketchy issues (multiple seals, extreme wear, multiple labels on top of one another). It tested ok and I installed it and paired it with Zwave network. All functions check. Just need to rekey now. I am starting to think…
