Yes, the price does indicate the quality. This lock really is as cheap as the price tag. I recently had my bike stolen and this lock put up the fight of a 1 year old with a piece of candy. Examining the lock after discovering the bike was gone it appears that nothing but a simple hammer and a good beating popped the lock loose. the metal U was easily bent and the locking device gave way far too easily. Learn from my mistake and protect your investment with a little more than a cheap $10 lock.

Not sure what everyone hates about it It works really well, and if you leave it outside all of the time of course it will get a bit rusty and be hard to use, so make sure you oil it, just as you should oil your bike. I have no idea how strong this actually is, I can imagine since it is cheap someone could use leverage to break it, but the $50 ones are like that as well. It is just to keep the average weirdo from stealing your bike on a whim, pro’s will steal it no matter what lock you use.

adequate lock. good for price. The key mechanism can be a little finicky/sticky at first, but mine has gotten better over time. It can be a little difficult to get slide both ends into the bar, but not that bad. If you are gentle with it, it works fine. If you are a brute that slams things around, this may not be the lock for you.
